A heat recovery ventilation (HRV) system can meet this demand by lowering the building energy demand by pre-cooling.

Heat recovery is an application method deployed to reduce the cooling demand of buildings by recovering the residual coldness in the exhaust air. The fresh air introduced into the space is pre-cooled and the fresh air enthalpy is reduced before it enters the room. This reduces the compressor working rate hence, reduction in energy consumption.

This works in areas where the ambient temperature is less than the desired temperature in the space to be conditioned.

VARIABLE REFRIGERANT FLOW (VRF)

The refrigerant in VRFs is utilized as a cooling and heat transfer medium. The refrigerant is conditioned by an outdoor condensing unit and then circulated within the building to multiple indoor fan-coil units.

To achieve a variable refrigerant flow, VRFs incorporate a direct current inverter on the compressor that supports variable motor speeds. This allows the VRFs to operate only at the speed necessary to meet demand, using variable frequency drive compressors, and this permits significant energy savings at partial load conditions. VRF units come in different models:

  • Cassettes
  • Console
  • High wall
  • Ductable types (slim, mid- static, and high–static)

INVERTER SPLIT AIR CONDITIONER

Inverter ACs are on the rise these days due to the spike in electricity costs and the need for energy-efficient air conditioners. Inverter ACs are more expensive than standard ACs, but it is wise to get an inverter AC for the long run if pricing is not a concern. For those unaware, air conditioners with inverter technology run the compressor at varying speeds that automatically adjust based on the room temperature. For instance, a 1.5-Ton Inverter AC can lower its capacity to 1-Ton or increase it to 1.75-Tons as per the requirement. This helps maintain a constant temperature while saving 30 to 40 percent on energy resulting in significantly low electricity bills or fuel consumption.
